Botulinum Toxin

What is botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin is a purified toxin which, when injected into the muscles, inhibits their contraction, promoting relaxation.

What is it used for?

By reducing the intensity of muscle contraction, it prevents the appearance of new dynamic wrinkles and softens existing ones. Some examples of its use are the correction of wrinkles in the upper third of the face, the correction of gummy smiles and the attenuation of longitudinal wrinkles in the neck caused by the platysma muscle. It can also have a beneficial effect in the treatment of pathologies such as bruxism or hyperhidrosis.

How long does it last?

The effect is usually visible from the 3rd day after application, reaching its maximum potential on the 15th day. The results can last between 3 and 6 months, depending on the patient.
