Treatment for this condition should be started early and can include psychotherapy or anti-depressant medication. Taking anti-depressants can improve sleep, is not addictive and should be prolonged but temporary. Generalized Anxiety Disorder (known as “Anxiety”) is also an illness that negatively interferes with daily life. It is a state of alertness that is disproportionate to the situation being experienced. This condition can have health consequences and is associated with cardiovascular disease. It is important to treat it and treatment can include psychotherapy and medication with an anxiolytic effect (including antidepressants). These illnesses can happen to anyone, including those who have always been very strong and resilient. It's important to recognize the signs and seek out a health professional for a correct diagnosis and treatment. |
